What do you need in order to make your own music?

make your own music

What do you need to make your own music, get better at it every day, and turn all that into a source of income you can live from?

1. You need the basic inspiration, which, since you got here we assume you have. If you don't, well...

2. You need skills and know-how: how to write music, or how to play an instrument... duh...

3. You need a music business plan

4. You need time.

5. Unless you come into a fortune, you need money... and music is time. Because if you have not inherited a few million, you will need to work on something that does pay your bills. And that tends to be time consuming: you also need money for equipment, a suitable place to work on your projects, and what not...

Most of this site covers point 2 as it pertains to the guitar. But no one single source of information can give you everything you need. Soak up everything you can, no matter what the source. Then analyze and get rid of what you don't need. Develop the useful parts further until you master them.

What about music business? More specifically, what about a music business plan as it pertains to YOUR PROJECTS??? A custom made business plan that will allow you to live your life the way you want to live it. A custom made business plan that will give you the freedom to develop YOUR projects and YOUR income; not your manager's, your record company's, nor anybody else's. YOURS.

A music business plan that will allow you to make your own music. Visualize it: a life situation where your income allows you to fuel your projects as they deserve to be, and gives you all the time you need to develop them.
OK, we all know it. A full time job does not really cut the mustard here. We need something else...

These points are all interconnected, of course. That's what we want, right? An integrated life-style that leads us more and more in the direction we have always wanted. A life-style that allows you to make your own music, freely. Think of it.

If you need to work a full time job that does not really interest you, and you live in an uninspiring setting, and don't have the suitable equipment, your projects are not likely to flow. And your inspiration is more than likely to wane.

What you need is clear goals and a strategy: you need to know that it will take time! Neither music nor business, as we all know, are for the impatient.
But a clearly outlined strategy usually takes care of our haste: The satisfaction that comes from achieving even the seemingly smallest goals is huge -when they all point in the same direction.

By funneling all your time and resources right back into your project, you make sure you get the best of everything. The best education (self-acquired, or in schools, or whatever suits you best), the best equipment, the ideal setting for you to work, etc, etc. Result? You make the best possible music!!!

Do as I've done, and turn your knowledge and passion into a website that works; then turn it into a viable business. This will not make you rich overnight, but it will provide an automated income stream that will fuel all your other projects, while freeing your time. The www is changing everything about business -and this is probably most true of music business.
Step by step, you build the life you dream of, a life dedicated to your passion: MUSIC!!!
