Don't get obsessed with speed! Using this sort of study-aid can foster a certain obsession with playing faster and faster. It is important to start at slow tempi and only speed up when you feel totally relaxed and comfortable with whatever you are playing. In any event, it is more important to play with good sound, phrasing, and musicality, than it is to play fast.

This is only and aid! Use it to attain steadiness in your playing, but don't overdo it! Playing too rigidly is boring to the player and to the listeners.
